Sepia is a much loved seafood in Spain. Similar to calamari, sepia (cuttlefish) are meatier, with a rich, fresh flavor and almost no fishiness. Our sepia are flash frozen and vacuum packed at the peak of freshness. Perfect on the grill or in your next seafood paella.
Our favorite way to enjoy sepia is sautéed with a garlic and parsley sauce. Score the sepia, sprinkle with sea salt and either grill until browned or pan fry in olive oil. For the sauce, mix four tablespoons of parsley, two garlic cloves and 1/4 cup of olive oil in a blender and sauté in a hot pan for a few minutes, then pour over the cooked sepia. Wonderful!
Cuttlefish can also be sliced and added to your favorite paella recipe or seafood salad.
Thaw the cuttlefish in the refrigerator. Use within a day or two after thawing, do not refreeze.
