Pastel de Nata tarts are an obsession in Portugal. A light, flaky crust is filled with a seductively rich and creamy filling, a delicious bite with coffee in the morning or as a delightful dessert.
Our pastels are baked in Porto and flash frozen, preserving them at peak quality. You simply bake them in your oven for ten minutes and serve the warm, rich confection. Your family will love them!
There is a reason that the Portuguese are fanatical about Pastel de Nata (or Pasteis de Nata). Created in the 18th century by Benedictine monks on the outskirts of Lisbon, they were one of several pastries made from surplus eggs for their local community.
The Pastel de Nata quickly became a favorite and eventually became the national pastry of Portugal. They are found in every café, and are simultaneously a snack, a dessert or just a quick treat with an afternoon coffee.
