The seas surrounding Spain are rich with some of the best seafood in the world. We’ve created this selection of some of our favorites and packed them in a delightful wooden gift box, chock full of delicacies from the sea for all to enjoy.
Conservas de Cambados is one of Spain’s premier seafood companies, known for artisanal production methods and top ingredients. Their facilities are next to one of Spain’s largest and purest estuaries, so they are able to capture and preserve the flavors of the sea within each tin.
The selection includes sardinillas - small, delicate sardines from Galicia. We’ve never tasted a sardine so pristine in flavor, with none of the fishiness you might associate with tinned seafood. These small fish are harvested from the tidal rivers of the Rias, then taken ashore immediately to be cleaned by hand and packed carefully into tins to preserve their wonderfully fresh flavors of the sea.
This gift set also includes bright orange mussels, or mejillones, which are farmed in the same estuary. After the plump shellfish are harvested, they’re lightly cooked and packed by hand in a marinade made with local vinegar and paprika.
We’ve also included zamburiñas, which are whole scallops harvested while they’re still tender and small. The sweet meat is packed by hand in a local sauce, salsa Gallega, made with tomatoes and smoked paprika.
Lastly, we’ve included the famous Galician octopus, or pulpo. The firm slices of pulpo are cooked until tender and then marinated in smoky paprika. This Galician specialty will remind you of the flavorful treasures of the sea you might have tasted along Spain’s northwestern coast!
